The National Health Peril(?) of The West Coast Forest Fires

 

I read an article the other day on the danger the smoke from the West Coast fires poses for people on the East Coast, especially the young, old and those with breathing difficulties. Looking at the national radar, the bulk of the smoke is passing through Maine and based on my recent visit I confirm the sunrise and sunset were extraordinarily red but there was no odor of smoke.

The term “conspiracy theorist” conjures a person walking around in a tin foil hat.  I think of myself as a lower grade conspiracy theorist...tin foil does not look good on me and after a while the radio waves give me a headache.  I have worked for big business (that once upon a time I trusted) and government and believe there is no lie, mis-information or cover-up that is not done as long as the villain thinks s/he won’t be caught...or the victims are not strong enough to fight (Cuomo and the nursing home murders).

Given that, I think there was a message in this article.  If one does not believe in global warming (I do; I just don’t believe it is man-caused) then one must not feel sorry for the incinerated west coast states (and British Columbia).  In other words, we folks in the heartland and East Coast are unsympathetic to what is happening out west and may even be smug about it.  So….we the people on the East Coast deserve whatever perils the West Coast states are sending our way, because we have not swallowed the Kool Aid. At 74 I feel no threat even though by most counts I would be considered “elderly.”.  Perhaps I am simply not woke.

Far fetched?  Not at all.  There is no rational purpose for this article except to serve up fear.  Me?  I am not worried.  Those people who have breathing problems are advised to stay indoors until it passes, and it will; the same as they would if a volcano erupted...and that latter event is not man-caused. At least I don’t think it is.  I thought about calling Al Gore on this “burning” question of causation of volcano eruptions; I just don’t think he would call me back.
