Stop The Divisiveness

I am a white male, in my 70’s. I am healthy for my age, thanks to an equal blend of genetics and healthy personal habits (no smoking, no drugs, moderate alcohol, minimal fats and cholesterol.)  I walk 4 miles a day, 5 days a week.; I have a modest, but ample income between a state pension and social security (both of for which I paid during my working years).  I am able-bodied and heterosexual. Between Medicare (for which I pre-paid and continue to pay) and a supplemental plan, for which I pay, I have great health care.

Despite my contributions to community, my employers  and my family; there is no month or holiday that honors me or bestows upon me an unearned title.  I don’t care that I am not honored or placed on a public pedestal; what angers me is that there is a month when blacks are; there is a month where gays are. We have a Hispanic heritage month.  We are blessed with a women’s history month. No, “white straight male” month.

I have not seen a “disabled person” month and that is the only major exclusions are American indians and the smaller U.S. populations of Asian-American and Middle-Eastern.

BELOW IS A PICTURE OF ABERCROMBIE KIDS IN THE SMITHHAVEN MALL, Lake Grove, New York, ADVOCATING DIVERSITY AND INCLUSIVITY.  One month was not enough to force-feed those loathsome white folks.  This poster remained prominently displayed from February through May, 2021. You need not look hard to notice the only child not in the poster is a white child.  Much to my delight this store is now closed.  I wish I could say it was a result of its divisive advertising but in any case, good riddance.

I am not ashamed of my race, age, gender, sexual preference and mobility; but nor am I proud.  I was born with these features.  The standalone feature that is a result of my upbringing is my healthy (financially and physically) retirement.  Before the dividers shriek “white privilege” allow me to define how I achieved my position in life.  My father said to me, “I want you to do two things and then I will not ask you for anything else. I want you to do a tour in the service and I want you to get a college degree.”  I did both of those (degree in business).  Did a black youngster have the same opportunity? Of course; but Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and white “leaders” like Bill Clinton and Lyndon Johnson inculcated an entitlement mentality.  Truly the mentality has been and is, “you were born therefore you are owed.” “Do nothing lest you become independent of government.” Could the black kid who ended up being shot in the street or becoming a gang member have entered the service?  Of course but no leadership, including “leadership” at home insisted the kid do that.  With the GI bill and a wife who worked and my attending an inexpensive state college, I graduated and found employment with no debt hanging over my head.  That is NOT “white privilege.”  That is being responsible for oneself. That is a father who placed very few, but very important expectations of me.  Own and enjoy your successes and accept responsibility and pay for your failures.

The Hispanics, despite the best efforts of their leaders, have not adopted the entitlement mentality, nor have the Middle-Eastern or Asian folk. The American indians have.  Those races (other than the indians) work hard and play by the rules.  So successful are the Asians that the “Ivy League” colleges are now being sued for discrimination in admissions, because the Asian kids qualify and the entitled blacks don’t but are admitted ahead of the Asians.

The gay community?  In my opinion, the majority of gays play by the rules, may be more successful per capita than heterosexuals.  I like being around gays; I find them less macho, generally welcoming, intelligent and friendly.  But I’ll be darned if this masochistic country of ours should in any way honor them because of their sexual preference. What utter idiocy.

You are gay?  Black, Hispanic, a woman?  I will call you heroic when you save someone from a burning building or help build your community.  I will NEVER place you on a pedestal because of who you are...NEVER.

Women are in a different class.  Opportunities have become wide open for women since at least the 80’s in fact...and this is documented...less qualified women have been given positions over more qualified men which is illegal...but what the heck.  Women were done a disservice by the feminist movement.  Before the feminists, women rarely paid child support, were not drafted (and are not now but I understand the door has been open should we ever need a draft again). Women could choose to be mothers without the hatred of the feminazis who, of course, knew better than women what was “good for them.”  But, women are no more special or deserving of opportunity than men.

Trump did very little to reverse the entitlement mentality.  My guess is he did more than was publicized but since Lyndon Johnson (glad he is gone) we have moved slowly toward the socialist/marxist idiom that s/he who refuses to take care of himself is nevertheless entitled to a living.  Many years ago I worked for the Department of Social and Health Services, Washington state.  I worked (yes it is ironic but it made sense...I actually SAVED taxpayer money) for the welfare system, in a business capacity.  Thank heavens I did not have to give out the checks. We had a former governor, Mike Lowry, a real sleazeball who left office after he got caught in a sexual maneuver behind a bar in Olympia, Washington. Lowry once wrote Bill Clinton with respect to welfare reform; I saw the letter, imploring Clinton to not cut food stamps “EVEN FOR PEOPLE WHO REFUSE TO WORK.”  If nothing else in my novella makes sense, this clearly is the case for a gimme society, requiring no personal responsibility. Karl Marx, not the first to push the concept, said, “from each according to his abilities and to each according to his needs” as a part of his communist manifesto.  Not for me in any case, but what is worse, we require NOTHING of people who believe the government owes them a living. The erupting black push for “reparations” is a perfect example.

Dividing and conquering people by any classification dujour burns my butt. Divisiveness is the most important tool in the Progressive/Marxist tool box. I am not ashamed of who I am; I am proud only of my meager accomplishments, not of my sexual preference, gender or race.  I have paid my dues so the wise will leave me alone and knock off the progressive nonsense that I am to be less valued than other members of our country. They won’t do that of course but as the military declaration goes, “don’t tread on me.”

If you enjoy hating me for any of the “classes” to which you assign me, you are a bigot, plain and simple. Look it up; don’t take your Marxist professor’s word for the definition. Further, if you hate me because I am male, you are, in addition to being a bigot, a misandrist. If you are a minority and hate whites, you are a racist (yep, that word does apply to you).  If you are a gay who hates straights, I guess that makes you a heterophobe.  Ain’t life grand?  No one can justify his/her hatred for another group without being labeled.  Obama had a unique opportunity to create a color-blind society.  He had no intention of doing that.  We owe him a debt of gratitude for his malfeasance which now entitles women, gays and minorities to hate just about anyone they want with no recrimination.
