THE EXERCISE WAS TO CHOOSE TWELVE PEOPLE LIVING or DEAD THAT I WOULD INVITE TO MY LAST DINNER. HERE ARE MY THIRTEEN AND WHY
NO PARTICULAR ORDER
I EXCEEDED THE NUMBER by ONE
Whether or not these invitees would make compatible dinner companions is not relevant. This is MY dinner.
SPIRO AGNEW: Former governor of Maryland and Nixon’s vice president. He died in jail after being convicted of corruption. He was a small minority relentlessly criticizing campus uprisings in the 70’s. I loathed the disruptive behavior and he was my spokesperson. He remains my hero to this day as Republicans now are terrified of taking a stand…on anything.
ELTON JOHN: Of all artists (possibly Abba being a runner-up) he is my favorite. In the 70’s he pumped out hit after hit. His singing was my fantasy place when life was tough and it often was. Not at all a dancer I would carry my older son, Scott, in my arms and move around the living room. Though Elton was gay, he has generally avoided criticism of homophobic, or just people who are not afraid of gays but don’t like that lifestyle. I took this same son to an Elton concert in Tacoma, WA in 1986. He enjoyed it as much as did I.
LAUREN BOEBERT, Libertarian (not sure she identifies as such) a conservative Federal House rep from Colorado. Wears a gun to work; believes in family values. Has some religious beliefs that I do not follow but she (and Jim Jordan from Ohio) are as nasty to the Marxists as AOC is to conservatives. She is industrious and if the Republicans take back the house this November, she intends to file impeachment charges against Biden, Merrick Garland (the Fed AG who refuses to protect the Supreme Court justices). It will be fun to watch her if she gains more clout. First she has to win re-election this fall, which the polls suggest she will do despite the cliche hatred from the Marxists. It does not hurt that she is drop-dead gorgeous.
RON de SANTIS. The marvelous take-no-prisoners governor of FL who has tackled Disney and passed legislation stonewalling the Marxist indoctrination agenda, specifically the CRT and LGBTQ teaching in public schools. CRT is the notion that the whites properly have very little place in history and in my opinion is taught to provoke children into hating other children. FL is a “shall issue” concealed weapon state and if deSantis should be elected president one day I believe he will put an end to the unconstitutional gun hatred initiatives.
TULSI GABBARD: is a Hawaii democrat, formerly a Federal House member but I believe she is more Republican than Democrat. I have followed her closely. She is often on FOX (which is telltale). I proudly display a bumper sticker “deSantis/Gabbard - 2024. And, once again, a common theme, she is pretty; that garners a few points.
MARGARET THATCHER: The late prime minister of Britain. Very tough, very no-nonsense; just the kind of WOMAN the American Marxists would hate, because, after all, she was not the “right kind of woman.” I don’t recall the year but when Argentina arbitrarily adopted the Falkland Islands (a British Protectorate) off their coast as their own, she sent British vessels 8,000 miles to make the point, “Uh, I don’t think so.” I think it took the British less than two weeks, then they went back home. I wrote her noting that citizens in our country would be hiding under their beds, certain that WWIII was about to occur. A deputy of hers wrote me bac, thanking me for my support.. Rewarding. She and Ronald Reagan were good friends.
RONALD REAGAN; Nice segway. His only failure during my following him from CA to DC was that he did NOT reduce the national debt which he promised to do. During his tenure, the U.S. lost its sense of guilt for being a successful country. The bad guys knew he meant business. The day after he was elected Iran released 700+ hostages that they held during the Carter years. He tackled the Cubans (I believe they were Cubans) in Grenada. Ours was a prosperous country during his years and boy did the Marxists hate him. His only scandal, if it amounted to that, was the Iran Contra Affair, of which Oliver North was a part. Reagan was called the “Teflon President” for good reason. No matter the eggs tossed at him by the Marxists, he prevailed.
JENNIFER BEALS: This candidate gets my “one of the most beautiful woman in the world” awards. First starring in “Flash Dance” she was beautiful then and is still so now. She is a smart woman who has played subsequent roles well, though they are few and far between, including a few episodes of “Lie to Me, a marvelous, all-too-short series. In this series she is a DA working with a firm that specializes in analyzing characters with respect to whether or not they are being truthful. “Flash Dance”? If I were not married I would have wanted to take her home. To this day a beautiful woman; someone with whom I would enjoy sharing a glass of wine.
TONIA RAYMONDE: Currently my number one crush, long face, brunette, gorgeous body. Any male who does not think she is beautiful just might be gay. I first remember her from a few episodes ot “The Last Ship” on which she as a computer techie (I believe). She was then in a few episodes of “LOST” (A great series) in which she was the daughter of a villain. Her big bit, I think, is as a prostitute/paralegal on “Goliath” a marvelous Amazon Prime show. Aside from Tonia, this show is a great show to watch. I like Billie Bob Thornton who is the star but admit to waiting for the next scene in which Tonia appears.
CLARENCE THOMAS: this guy is my current hero. I am not so wrapped up in the abortion issue as I am the 2nd Amendment. (Abortion: nothing after the first trimester except for imminent danger to the mother or baby, or pregnancy from incest or rape in which case the pregnant girl MUST cooperate in the prosecution of the offender.) The 2nd amendment is huge to me and the ramifications of the Thomas-authored opinion are going to be in the courts for years. Hochul, the vile governor of New York, is openly defiant of that ruling and it will take knee-capping her to get her to comply and that will take awhile. Justice Thomas gets it. The Second Amendment (I have never been certain of the meaning of “a well regulated militia…”) but Justice Thomas says we do have a right to self-defense in and out of our home. I have volunteered locally to be a test case though I do not think that will happen. Again, he is my hero and I should be so lucky as to share a drink of his choice with him. I am reading his book, “Created Equal.” What a truly great man. The Marxists tried to take him down with the Anita Hill farce because the Marxists knew he “was not the right kind of black.” Notice a pattern?
GOLDA MEIR: Israel Prime Minister from 1969 through 1974. Ms. Meir was an exceptionally strong, independent woman who led the forever-besieged state of Israel during those years. She later resigned after early losses in an attack on Israel. Integrity and honor we never see in the U.S. Her resignation was the reaction to the early failures in the Yom Kippur war but she was undervalued for her strong defense, governance and support of Israel. No matter, a woman I always respected, much along the lines of Margaret Thatcher.
SARAH PALIN: Another strong woman. I fully supported her run for the vice presidency with John McCain( (a horrible individual who rode his wartime heroics to the Senate). Sarah Palin was and is a truly independent woman, again, the “wrong kind of woman” to the Marxists. She is running for the sole Fed House Rep seat from Alaska and I hope she wins. Again, the Marxists hate her but she has a chance in Alaska’s only House Representative seat. The treatment of her through the years would be called “misogynist” if the target were any female Democrat candidate.
SCOTT TYSON: Last but not least, my late son, Scott. He died at 45 and though we lived on opposite coasts, I miss him. He was a good kid who overcame some horrid life circumstances. In the end I believe his wife did not support him and he may have felt he did not have anything to which to look forward. From the opposite coast there was not much I could do especially since people in distress often feel they have few options. Rest in peace, son; I miss you.
