On Sour Women
I admit it; I am a girl-watcher. I am 72 but have yet to see a mountain or body of water or a forest more beautiful than a beautiful woman. My mind makes promises my body can't keep and I am happily married so window-shopping is my limit. Long Island, NY is such a nasty place. I worked part time for a big box store locally for a few years and complained to my manager that many of the employees did not treat customers well. I was told that headquarters is aware of that and that the company recognized that it was tougher to hire friendly people on Long Island than in any other market in the country...Having said that I walk a mall daily and am amazed at women of all ages who are glued to their smart phones. This includes women (and men) who are working stores or kiosks and should be greeting possible customers. Anyway, most women won't look up and if they do they are blank-faced or sour looking. I know there are many reasons; some people are just having a bad day but my point to the younger women who might be sympathetic to #metoo (though they don't understand what it is about) and older women who just don't like men is, "be careful." One day you may just wish a man would make a pass at you. No, not "sexual harassment" as reasonably defined, just a flirtatious remark. Once the days are gone they will not return. Smile today; it is cheap and easy and if you receive a smile in return, it may help your day.
