Protect Ghislaine Maxwell (Epstein/Maxwell)

The continuing Epstein/Maxwell saga intrigues me.  I admit up front to a slight bias in favor of Ghislaine and I hope that is not evident in my post. I had a crush on a woman who looks like her and thus Ghislaine “may” enjoy a bit of a “halo effect.”

I watched a “60 Minutes - Australia” documentary (see link if interested) on Epstein and Maxwell.  Because Epstein is now dead the documentary spent most of its time on Maxwell.  I would buy lottery tickets to pull the switch on these two (post-conviction) except pedophilia is not a capital crime. Well, and one of them is gone anyway.  What these people did to under-age women is not describable with words I use.  If Maxwell is found guilty, may she rot in prison and suffer any fate the prison culture deems appropriate.

HOWEVER:

Maxwell has not yet been convicted of ANYTHING.  This matters to me because she was not allowed bail as a flight risk.  There is little doubt she has a great deal of money, passports and friendly connections and could flee.  But, when the Feds arrested her she was sequestered in a remote house in New Hampshire. I submit that, as she requested, with a $5,000,000 bond, she could have been held in house arrest until her trial in July, 2021 (we know about the speed of the wheels of justice).  If the Feds stripped her of her passports and assigned security equal to (or more than) the amount of protection we afford Barack Obama - both to keep her safe and to keep her from fleeing - she could have stayed in her house.  I don’t like “golf club” prisons for any criminal...

BUT...

There is little value in incarcerating Ghislaine Maxwell.  If she is given a plea deal in exchange for spilling her “little black book” I believe she could bring down others who were equally horrible.  Personally, I am not a Trump-hater but he is seen in this “60-minutes” episode in a picture with Epstein and Maxwell.  Likewise Clinton (whom I did hate).  Prince Andrew is clearly implicated.  So, I would rather Maxwell be given home detention in exchange for remaining alive to spill the beans on the “clients.” If she dies in prison. America will never know the extent of the evil perpetrated by both Epstein and Maxwell, et al, much greater than the deeds of only Epstein and Maxwell.

An individual has the right to commit suicide.  Some states prohibit it…(so whom exactly is the going to prosecute if the suicide victim is successful?)  If Epstein committed suicide, I have no problem with that but if he was murdered I believe the Feds are culpable in allowing that to happen.  If the Feds allow Maxwell to be murdered they will have lost the opportunity to bring down an evil empire.  THAT would have been sufficient justification for house arrest.  If we ever get to see a trial, or plea deal details, I will watch that eagerly; I am certain that many men (women?) are quaking in their boots. There may very well be contracts out on Maxwell and those contracts can penetrate prison walls.

Somewhat as an aside, an early victim went to the FBI ten years before this scandal blew up. The FBI did nothing.  Thank you government.  We love you.  Had the FBI done something with this complaint perhaps dozens or hundreds of other women would not have suffered this cruelty.  Americans have a despicably low bar for government performance.  A black racist entertainer has asked the FEDS to open an investigation into a cop killing a black kid in L.A. ten years ago. I hope the Feds do not conduct that investigation but if they do, let’s pair that up with an investigation into the FBI  failure to investigate this young woman’s complaint against Epstein.

I want Maxwell to live, okay, partly because she is pretty, but chiefly I believe arrests and prosecution of the “clients” who abused these young women will be interesting beyond the O.J. Simpson level.

Trump/Barr, please speak publicly on this case. Make sure Maxwell lives to testify and do not yield to the influence of the rich and powerful who do not want her to be given a plea deal in exchange for her “black book.”
